Nextel is not the red-headed stepchild Sprint wants to hide in the attic. So insisted (in different words, of course) Sprint Nextel Corp.(S) CEO Dan Hesse last week at an investor conference hosted by Goldman Sachs (or, Last Bank Standing).
That insistence led analysts and others to ponder that Sprint has indeed received – and is considering – offers for the Nextel network. And when money is all that really matters these days, at the right price, who wouldn’t think about kissing the red-headed stepchild goodbye?
