Nortel ‘Fesses Up: Will Consider Individual Bids

04/06/2009

After weeks of not commenting on rumor, Nortel Networks Corp. (NT) has confirmed that, yes, it will entertain offers on its individual divisions.

The bankrupt telecom equipment maker is desperate to reorganize and likely will sell off its various units – enterprise, wireless and metro Ethernet – to rivals. The most newsworthy item on that front is a private equity group eyeing both Nortel and Motorola assets and looking to combine them to form a new company. That has yet to happen.

Nortel had its Metro Ethernet Networks division on the sale block for a while but withdrew the sale earlier this year. Still, the company now says that it will consider any bids on any of its units. It’s already sold its application delivery gear assets to Radware.
