Verizon Business Announces Managed Security Offering

Verizon Business has released a unified threat management (UTM) offering, where it will monitor and manage a range of products that combine numerous security functions into a single piece of equipment. The offering is available in the United States and in many countries in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

UTM is aimed at mid-sized businesses and remote locations within an enterprise, said Verizon. UTM provides companies with a multifaceted defense against a range of network security threats and includes firewall protection, detection and elimination of viruses and spam, content filtering, intrusion prevention and intrusion detection.

These capabilities initially will be delivered across two UTM platforms – Cisco ASA (Adaptive Security Appliances) and the Juniper Networks Secure Services Gateway (SSG) family.

Customers can have Verizon Business monitor and manage selected UTM services. For those customers choosing to out-task management of UTM devices as well, Verizon Business can provide remote management of the platform, operating system and software for the devices.
