FCC Signs Off on PAETEC-McLeodUSA Combo

The FCC has approved the $557 million merger of PAETEC and McLeodUSA Inc., the companies said Tuesday.

The Federal Trade Commission already has given the deal its blessing, so the PAETEC and McLeodUSA now are waiting for final regulatory approvals.

PAETEC and McLeodUSA announced their merger on Sept. 17. The transaction should close in the first quarter of 2008.
