Update: Vonage Gets Stay, Can Add Customers

A federal appeals court late Friday put a stay on an injunction that, hours earlier, blocked Vonage Holdings Corp. from adding new customers.

A jury recently found that Vonage infringed on three key VoIP patents held by Verizon Communications Inc. and federal district judge Claude Hilton on the morning of April 6 punished Vonage by barring it from seeking new subscribers.

Verizon has until Friday to respond to Vonage’s request to get rid of the injunction permanently. The court also will rule on Friday whether the injunction will stick.
