Janzen In as New One Communications CEO

03/26/2007

Telecom industry vet Howard Janzen is taking over as CEO of One Communications.

Janzen replaces Thomas Casey, who served as CEO after CTC Communications and Choice One Communications merged last year. One Communications on Monday would only say that Casey is “no longer with the company.” It would not provide further details.

Casey previously had been chairman and CEO of Choice One before it merged with CTC.

Meanwhile, Janzen also will sit on the board of directors. He most recently was president of Sprint Business Solutions, where he oversaw Sprint’s worldwide business customer base. Before that, he served as president of the Sprint Global Markets Group, responsible for its long-distance business. He was also chairman, president and CEO of Williams Communications Group, where he helped the company complete the build-out of its fiber network.

“Each business’ communications needs are unique, yet there’s been a void in the industry in terms of offering innovative solutions with personalized service at competitive prices,” said Kenneth Peterson, One Communications’ board chairman. “Howard’s deep knowledge of building next-generation networks combined with his enthusiasm for helping corporations overcome their communications challenges makes him the ideal CEO for taking One Communications forward.”

Janzen sits on the boards for Anywhere Mobile Solutions, Comsat International, Exanet, GTT and Sonus Networks.

One Communications provides IP products and services to businesses throughout the Northeast, mid-Atlantic and Upper Midwestern states. The privately held company has said it generates $800 million in revenue annually.
