BT Launches ‘Out-of-a-Box’ VoIP Service

03/16/2007

BT announced the launch of a global service that will enable Internet service providers, cable providers and other resellers to deliver flexible VoIP-based services to their subscribers. The new offering is targeted at global communication providers outside of the United Kingdom and allows entrants to the market to become a communication provider overnight, without the cost and complexity of having to invest in expensive IT and network infrastructure, says BT.

Using a fully redundant globally distributed IP network, BT’s IP Voice Managed Service offers a single Web-based user interface andadvanced multilayered security, including session border controller (SBC) functionality and VoIP firewall capabilities.

“BT IP Voice Managed Service offers communication providers a straightforward and easy-to-use platform – an ‘out-of-the-box’ solution – that simplifies the delivery of IP telephony services without huge investments or technology knowledge,” says Karsten Lereuth, president BT Global Telecom Markets. “We have kept this offering as simple to use as possible – any person who can work with Microsoft Windows can use BT IP Voice Managed Service. The whole solution is Microsoft-enabled to provide both new entrants and existing telecom providers access to an exciting and expanding market.”
