Time Warner Telecom Increases Revenue, Lowers Losses

02/08/2007

Colorado-based Time Warner Telecom Inc. this week reported $238.8 million in fourth-quarter 2006 revenue, which contributed to the year’s overall total of $812.4 million.

Quarterly revenue rose 29 percent over the same period in 2005, from $184.5 million to $238.8 million. The company credited the growth, in part, to a 33 percent increase in data and Internet revenue for the year.

The provider, which recently bought Xspedius Communications for its IP backbone, also noted slightly lower net losses for the fourth quarter of 2006. Time Warner Telecom reported a net loss of $24.8 million, or 18 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $22.3 million, or 19 cents per share, for the fourth quarter of 2005.

Time Warner Telecom did warn investors that it expects higher expenses in 2007 as it integrates Xspedius into its operations. Its margins also are likely to be reduced as the company distributes first-quarter merit increases, resets payroll taxes and re-brands its name to include Xspedius, the company said.
