Mpower Unveils Managed Firewall/VPN

Mpower Communications Corp. (Booth 503) has added two new services to its integrated voice and data product portfolio for agents to sell. Through an agreement with CSCI, a provider of managed security services, Mpower is offering OfficeScreen managed firewall and VPN services to business customers. The company also plans to introduce its VoIP-hosted PBX offering in the fourth quarter of this year, using VocalData’s platform.

OfficeScreen provides security tools such as multi-functional VPN firewall and antivirus gateway devices designed to help businesses and distributed enterprises protect their networks from Internet threats and viruses without the overhead of dedicated IT staff or the capital outlay for VPN implementation.

And, using VocalData’s hosted IP platform, Mpower plans to provide access to advanced features and functionality through a Web portal interface tied directly to an Mpower application server. This solution will offer larger businesses with multiple and/or virtual offices a cost-effective alternative to traditional PBX and key systems, the company says.
