Skype Technologies S.A. has started an affiliate program that will pay online communities, Web site publishers, bloggers and others commissions of up to 10 percent for promoting Skype on their Web sites. Registered sites link to Skype's home page and the Skype Store, where customers can buy Skype's premium services from the affiliate Web site. The referral period credits publishers for all purchases made from return visits to the Skype Store for up to 30 days after the original click.
Service provider PowerNet Global Communications has introduced local and longdistance phone service bundles for residential customers in Georgia, New Jersey and Ohio. The company is marketing the services through its channel partners. The news follows similar recent announcements for Florida, Indiana, Michigan, New York and Texas. Packages for users in Georgia start at $23.33 for unlimited local calls and 30 minutes of monthly domestic long-distance. In New Jersey, services cost as little as $12.33; for Ohio, pricing starts at $19.33 for the same access as Georgia and New Jersey.
Master agency PlanetOne Communications Inc. is relocating its headquarters, but will remain in the same city where it has been since its inception. The company is moving to a new building in Scottsdale, Ariz.
VoIP service provider Anexeon Communications says its channel partner MAS Enterprises will deploy VoIP on a trial basis for The Four Seasons Las Vegas at its Four Seasons Resort. The hotel will use VoIP in its sales and catering functions. MAS Enterprises will integrate the resort's current phone system and four-digit dialing capabilities, moving it to a hosted PBX, using the Anexeon Communications system. Anexeon Communications relies on CommPartners' VoIP technology, and enables IT channel partners to support VoIP for the SME market.
Broadband provider New Edge Networks is combining MPLS technology with its "BigFoot" network that enables broadband network access for businesses in the United States and Canada. The company's agents, VARs, systems integrators and other partners will be able to offer the MPLS-based products when they become available. The company plans to converge its nationwide ATM and IP networks into a single core that is supported by a high-availability MPLS engine. MPLS enables businesses to consolidate and prioritize their communications - voice, video, and various grades of data communications - onto a single VPN, bypassing the public Internet.
Logical Exchange LLC has launched its INXcash program for resellers worldwide. INXcash is a new international Internet calling service. Subscribers buy INXcash voucher and PIN codes from local resellers, and then sign up and use INX online. The company says subscribers make and receive calls with their U.S. or Canadian phone numbers, and have free voice mail, caller ID, three-way calling and online account management. Logical Exchange plans start at $7.95 per month with unlimited local calling and 2.1 cents per minute.
